There is now smoke and smoke in and around the city of Bhanjanagar.  If someone came in from outside, they wouldn't understand where the smoke was coming from.  And you would be worried if you knew the reason behind it.  More than 200 forests in the northern and southern forests of Ghumsa in Bhanjanagar were set on fire last week.  In the past four days alone, more than a hundred fires have been reported in the Ghumsa forest alone.  And the forest is burning.  Many hills in the Kalinga valley on the Kandhamal-Ganjam border with various forests in the Ghumsa forest are now on fire.

The situation is similar not only in Bhanjanagar but also in Balangir. The fire broke out in various hills around the town of Balangir and in the forests on its foothills for about three days. Firefighting is reported around the city. The condition of the animals in the area can be easily inferred as the forest is burning.
